Introduction to Climate Entrepreneurship

Course Description

Welcome to "Introduction to Climate Entrepreneurship," a pioneering course designed for high
school students who are passionate about making a positive impact on our planet. This course
offers a unique blend of entrepreneurial spirit and environmental stewardship, guiding students to
explore the intersection of innovation, science, and climate action.

Students will learn firsthand from startup leaders about conceptualizing, launching, and operating a
startup that solves critical issues concerning environmental and human health. Along the way,
students will learn proven yet unconventional skills to empathize with users, define the problem,
and bring early product concepts to life quickly.

This class is offered in conjunction with Ohlone for Kids and Teens and registration will take place through their portal.

What you will learn

- Delve into the role of entrepreneurs in addressing climate change
- Gain insights into various scientific fields like biochemistry, material science, artificial
intelligence, etc. that are crucial in creating solutions for a better future
- Investigate how food production and distribution impact the environment while exploring
innovative solutions in sustainable agriculture, alternative proteins, and food waste reduction
- Examine renewable energy technologies such as solar, wind, and hydroelectric power, and
understand the role of energy efficiency and the transition to a low-carbon energy system
- Discover how modern agriculture practices can be transformed to reduce environmental
impact, focusing on organic farming, precision agriculture, and regenerative practices
- Develop a plan for a new venture, a prototype, a brand, and a pitch deck to raise funds
from potential backers.

Required to bring Mac (Mac OS 11+) or Windows-based PC (Windows 10+) with at least 4GB RAM.
