This is the seventh in the series of posts about my project, Blubot, a robot that takes care of your raised bed for you. With Blubot, I'm on a mission to make gardening easy, space efficient, and low cost, so anyone, anywhere can start a garden. Check out the first few posts and table of contents here.
To prepare for the launch of my GoFundMe campaign, I recorded a 1-minute short video of myself talking about BluBot and why it would be worthwhile for potential donors to support this project. I spent a lot of time on the video. I wanted to make sure that the donors could see my passion and personality. I wanted to make sure that I convey to anyone watching why I'm doing this and why the BluBot is so much more to me than simply a high-school science project. The video was filmed and edited, and edited again, and edited yet again until I was happy with the result. After spending numerous hours, day after day after day, I was finally ready to launch the campaign.
When I launched the campaign, I was in a room with a group of friends. To my complete surprise and delight, they immediately donated some money. It wasn't a lot of money, just pocket change, but the gesture meant so much more than the amount of money. It was the first sign of assurance, that the campaign would be successful. I was pumped!
I emailed, messaged, and reached out to everyone I knew. I even asked my parents and friends to ask their friends. It was getting late on a Sunday, and I had homework to finish, so I didn't look at the campaign until the next morning in 3rd period. I opened the campaign page and could not believe my eyes.
Within 28 hours after launching the campaign, I had met and exceeded my fundraising goal! I was filled with an overwhelming sense of gratitude.
If you were a donor, I would like to take this time to truly thank you for your support. I would like to thank my parents for being there and supporting me with everything that has led me up to this point. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. With all my heart, Thank you.
The FarmBot is now in reach. It would soon be time to unbox and I cannot wait.
Keep Growing!
